By the end of the Chinese Cultural Revolution about 1.5 million people died.(history.com) Anybody with a higher education was either killed on the spot or taken to work on farms. The Cultural Revolution's short term affects may have been felt mainly in China's cities, but it's long term affects would impact the entire country for decades to come.(history.com) Along with other lasting affects China is not a democracy. China won't become a democracy the reason is that they are scared of the disorder it could bring their people, because it challenges party authority.(Chinacr)
Mao Zedong claimed that the Chinese Cultural Revolution was over by 1969. Although, most historians would say that it actually wasn't over until 1976 when the gang of four finally convinzed Mao to purge Deng Xiaoping in April 1976, just a few months after Zhou Enlai became deceased.(History.com) China was greatly unorganized after the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Their government didn't know which next step to take, and their economy had totally collapsed due to everybody being farmers.
